MACKIE wins Two TEC Awards for ONYX 1640 Small Format Mixer & BIG KNOB Studio Command System

Mackie's Onyx 1640 Small format mixer and BIG KNOB Studio command system were among the chosen products by MIX Foundation as the breakthrough products in their respective categories. Both products won the jury's vote to win the prestigious TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE & CREATIVITY (TEC) AWARDS. ONYX 1640 was nominated for SMALL FORMAT CONSOLE TECHNOLOGY, while the new BIG KNOB Studio Command System won in the ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT segment. In addition to this, Mackie's latest X Bus Series DXB.200 Digital Production Console was also nominated for the SMALL FORMAT CONSOLE TECHNOLOGY category. Mackie TT-24 was nominated for SOUND REINFORCEMENT CONSOLE TECHNOLOGY.Winners were announced at the 21st Annual TEC Awards, Saturday, October 8 at the New York Marriott Marquis.

Founded in 1985, the Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards is the foremost program recognizing the achievements of audio professionals. Presented annually by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the TEC Awards honor the individuals, companies and technical innovations behind the sound of recordings, films, TV shows and live performances.

 

 

Mackie Big Knob: This compact monitor switching, source selection and communications box is for studios that record with computer-based systems and need essential control room functions. A large, convenient volume knob provides easy access for precise level adjustments. Also available are three buttons for quick switching between three sets of studio monitors, a built-in talkback microphone, input source select for up to four different stereo sources, dual headphone outputs with an independent headphone mix bus and mono/mute/dim switches.

Mackie Onyx 1640: This compact 16-channel (16 mono mic/line inputs) analog mixer offers four buses, a 4-band sweep mid EQ, direct outs on each channel and a rotatable I/O pod for rack or desktop use. An optional FireWire card lets users output a combination of direct outputs from every input channel and the L/R mix directly into a FireWire–equipped computer and, at the same time, return two channels of computer audio back to the mixer for monitoring through the control room/phones matrix.
