The
use of horns in Pro audio is a must. When local enclosures are designed
for the larger portion of the PA market getting good quality LF drivers
to mate with a good enclosure is well understood. However the is concept
of spending money on good horns to load the HF driver is very much in
the dark. Proton supplies a full range of horns in 2” and 1”
throat exit with multiple directivity options to suit most of the needs
of the client. Most of the horns by Proton are made of Glass Fiber and
hence tend to get a little pricier than cheaper plastic ones. The non-resonant
quality of Glass Fiber ensures low coloration of the HF signature, and
also ensures that the LF unit bothers the horn very little. Glass Fiber
however ensures better control of horn flexure in manufacturing in larger
numbers; this ensures the product being standardized piece to piece. Climatic
hazards of variation in temperature tends to warp plastic and hence color
the performance, Glass Fiber does not get affected by climatic conditions
and hence has a greater life span and also performing accurately. It would
therefore be best, not to get penny wise pound foolish while choosing
your HF horn. |
